Field measurements of pressure surges in water supply pipeline systems for leakage detection
Project Description
Water mains burst and leakage has been one of the major challenges to water supply system networks worldwide including Hong Kong. The water main bursts result in significant loss of water and energy consumption; it is difficult to diagnose the location and extent of potential water leaks. As part of the Smart Urban Water Supply System project, the objective is to carry out field measurements to study the characteristics of pressure surges and hydraulic transients in Hong Kong’s water supply systems.
