Bridging Hong Kong–Eurasia FinTech Ecosystems
Project Description
This project studies how FinTech is developing in Central Asia and the Caucasus, and how these emerging digital finance markets can better connect with Hong Kong’s financial system. While Hong Kong is a leading global financial centre with strong FinTech infrastructure, many firms in Central Asia face challenges related to regulation, disclosure, and cross-border financial access. Understanding these contexts is important for public policy and international financial cooperation.

The project collects and analyses information on FinTech firms, digital payment systems, regulatory environments, and market conditions in these regions. It also examines how Hong Kong investors, regulators, and financial institutions interact with emerging FinTech markets. The research contributes to policy discussions on cross-border payments, financial connectivity, and inclusive FinTech development.

Students will support real research activities that feed into policy reports, public datasets, and academic outputs related to Hong Kong’s role as an international financial connector.
