Fuel Production from Carbon Dioxide
Project Description
Using electrochemical method to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) into hydrocarbons fuel is one of the most promising solutions to mitigate the increase of CO2 level in air. It also provides a way to store the intermittent renewable energy in the nature for human usage if the electricity power is provided by solar, windy energy, etc. However, the high overpotential, low selectivity and stability of catalysts have hindered the wide adoption of this technology. In this project, different types of nano-electrocatalysts will be synthesized, characterized and evaluated for CO2 reduction. The aim of this study is to identify the promising compositions, structures of CO2 reduction catalysts.
Safety training is required.
