Mechanics of soft composite materials
Project Description
Soft composites are promising candidates for various engineering materials due to their great extensibilities. On the other hand, many soft composites are model systems to understand the nonlinear mechanics in a viscoelastic medium. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of the mechanics of soft composites is greatly favored from both the engineering and scientific perspectives. This project will investigate the mechanical properties of different soft composite materials based on soft polymeric gels. By combining both experimental characterizations and theoretical modeling, we expect to reveal the fundamental physical principles that govern the mechanics of soft composites.
