Organic molecules for hydrogen storage
Project Description
Hydrogen is a clean energy carrier. Intermittent renewable energies such as solar and wind energies can be stored in hydrogen by an electrolyzer via the reaction of water splitting. However, hydrogen is a gas under ambient conditions, which is challenge for storage and transportation. Some organic molecules in solid or liquid form can be used to storage hydrogen via the hydrogenation reaction and release it via the dehydrogenation. This project aims to design, synthesize, characterize and evaluate novel organic molecules for hydrogen storage.
