This project seeks to investigate the causal impact of a book giveaway intervention, accompanied by shared-reading guidance, on preschool children's socioemotional competence through a randomized controlled trial.

Applicant's Roles
The applicant will receive training and participate in the coding of audio recordings of parent-child shared reading sessions. Proficiency in Mandarin is required, as this project is conducted in an underdeveloped area of China.
Applicant's Learning Objectives
1. Gain proficiency in qualitative and quantitative coding of audio data.
2. Gain the ability to interpret complex social dynamics in parent-child interactions.
3. Understand socioemotional talk, emotion coaching, emotion co-regulation, and their roles in fostering socioemotional competence in preschool children.
4. Gain first-hand experience in conducting psychological studies and understand the principles of randomized controlled trials in particular.
