Scientific Testbeding of LoRaWAN for Smart Campus Applications
Project Description
Unlock the power of IoT with LoRaWAN, a game-changing network protocol designed for long-range wireless communication with minimal power consumption. HKUST currently has an application-oriented LoRaWAN IoT network to aid the development of a sustainable smart campus. This project aims to expand our campus LoRaWAN capabilities by constructing a flexible research-oriented testbed that is crucial for the experimental study, validation, verification, and assessment of innovative research ideas in real-world scenarios. The dual purpose of the testbed is to enhance flexibility for scientific exploration - supporting advanced, innovative designs - while ensuring seamless integration with commercial LoRaWAN systems to validate new research techniques effectively.

Together with you, we will explore exciting applications based on the LoRaWAN testbed for smart sensing, indoor localization, facility management and control, even with possibility to work with UAV/drones for mobile sensing applications.
