On-site monitoring of structural dynamic behavior with accelerometers and Raspberry Pi
Project Description
Vibration based structural health monitoring can detect damage based on frequency analysis of acceleration under wind and other types of loading. This project starts with building a wireless sensing network with wireless accelerometers connected with Raspberry Pi. The wireless accelerometers will then be deployed on campus to monitor the building behavior and health status.

Applicant's Roles
The applicants are expected to build the wireless sensing system with commercially available components, and install them in selected buildings on campus. The applicants are also expected to analyze the data acquired with the wireless sensing system to analyze the building behavior under wind and other types of loading.
Applicant's Learning Objectives
1. Hands on experience with different sensors;
2. Building a on site monitoring system;
3. Hands-on experience with Python;
4. Learn the knowledge about data analytics;
5. Learn the knowledge about structural dynamic behavior for a real building on campus.
