Some aspects of high-dimensional probability
Project Description
High-dimensional probability offers insights into the behavior of large random structures such as random vectors, random graphs, random matrices, and random subspaces to name a few. The core concept in high-dimensional probability is the concentration of measure phenomena. In this project, the students will learn the basic concepts, probabilistic principles, and techniques that arise repeatedly across a broad range of high-dimensional problems. Students who have excellent performance will be invited to continue on the project for more original research.

Applicant's Roles
The students will be introduced to the basic concepts and theory of high-dimensional probability under the guidance of the supervisor. The students will read some journal papers and get a taste of conducting research. Students who take part in this project should have a solid foundation in multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and basic probability theory.
Applicant's Learning Objectives
The students are expected to learn some basic concepts and techniques in high-dimensional probability, to get a taste of doing research, and to give presentations.
