Understanding Bargaining Behavior during Civil War
Project Description
This project will examine the bargaining behavior of groups engaged in negotiations to end civil wars. Specifically, drawing on bargaining theory from multiple disciplines, we will examine factors that affect the bargaining offers that warring groups make during negotiations, and, once those offers are accepted, how they affect the political situation after war ends. Since there are multiple aspects to this research in terms of both methods and substantive topics, the specific research tasks can be matched with the applicant’s interests and skills.
